Based in Kensington, Melbourne - Sobremesa was started by Casey Grieve & Hannah McErlane in 2020. Partners in life and now partners in business. Sobremesa Fermentary & Blendery is a representation of their passion, ethos, cultural/life experiences & brewing philosophies. This project explores their love for farmhouse ales that are fermentation driven, nuanced and highly drinkable. Local ingredients, rustic traditions and agriculturally focused.

Casey grew up in Marlborough, New Zealand surrounded by vineyards, wine, music and his Mum's famous cooking. Although unlikely at first it was no surprise he ended up in this industry.

He spent four years travelling and working in wineries around the world which included stints in NZ, Australia, California & Germany - learning techniques and skills, working with different climates and fruits before completing his Graduate Diploma in Oenology. He then moved into the brewing industry working for two years at respected brewery, Bad Shepherd in Melbourne before heading across to Toronto, Canada to gain experience at a small mixed fermentation brewery/blendery called Bar Hop & now, currently as head brewer at Bonehead Brewery.

'Refined Simplicity' is their motif. Highly refreshing & formative ales which serve towards a variety of occasions. Detailed & gastronomic but still sessionable & downright delicious.
