Danish winemaker Uffe Deichmann makes low-fi wines using fruit sourced from low yielding & sustainably managed vineyards. The name (pronounced pop-el-vei) is named after the street on which Uffe grew up. Vej is the Danish word for street and poppel-trae is Danish for poplar tree.
Previously working as a sommelier in Copenhagen, Uffe fast became obsessed with the notion of wine production and uprooted to the Mclaren Vale in 2016.
Of 2000 cases produced a year, 95 per cent is exported to the US and Denmark - super limited, expressive & desirable wines.
